And although it looked like Arsenal may end up frustrated, Brighton’s back line was looking so resilient, Arteta’s team eventually made the breakthrough in the second half.

However, that may have come earlier had the Arsenal players made use of one of the best passes you’ll see this season.

During the first half captain Martin Odegaard played a delightful outside-of-the-boot pass to Bukayo Saka in a dangerous position, which nearly led to an Arsenal opener.

Pundits, fans and neutrals were all jaw-dropped by the pass, one that the likes of Lionel Messi or Xavi may be proud of.

And reacting on X, Arsenal fans thought ‘underrated’ Odegaard’s pass deserved to be rewarded with a goal.

One fan said: “That Odegaard pass deserved a goal at the end, that is perfection.”

Another remarked: “Damn that Odegaard pass should have led to a goal.”

And finally, one fan thought the moment highlighted how understated Odegaard had become.

They said: “Martin Odegaard is so underrated. That pass isn’t normal.”

Martin Odegaard was simply brilliant for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal against Brighton

Of course, it wasn’t just Odegaard’s sublime passing that impressed.

Arsenal fans were also treated to his typical industry in the middle, and he won the ball back in some crucial moments.

It was clear that £30m Odegaard was playing with so much confidence, a player who was in charge at The Emirates.

Perhaps the only frustration will be that his display wasn’t capped with a goal, which would have been well deserved.

A lot of Arsenal fans have had concerns over Odegaard’s performances at some points this season, he’s not always been at his creative best.

However, those worries can definitely be left in the past, Odegaard is brimming with quality.

Mikel Arteta will have been very pleased with how his Arsenal side overcome Brighton today, a side who are so tough to beat on any occasion.

And as well as his satisfaction with today’s performance, Arteta has also recently been praising one Arsenal player as the most intelligent he’s ever worked with.
