Arsenal fans have now had their say on the suggestion that Fabio Vieira may be set to leave the club on loan.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Marseille are keen to sign Fabio Vieira from Arsenal on a loan deal in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Portuguese ace is set to miss the next three Premier League games as he serves a ban for the red card he received against Burnley last time out.
It can hardly be argued that Vieira has made an especially brilliant impression at Arsenal so far. The Gunners paid £34 million to prise him away from Porto in the summer of 2022.
There have been flashes of quality, and impressive cameos off the bench against Fulham and Manchester United this season, but all too often the 23-year-old has been a passenger in matches, unable to impose himself. There are also concerns about his physicality, and whether or not he might be too lightweight to thrive in the Premier League.
So far in his Arsenal career, across all competitions, Vieira has managed to rack up 46 appearances. In that time, he has contributed three goals and nine assists. So far this season, he has made 13 outings, chipping in with one goals and three assists.

Arsenal fans have say on Fabio Vieira future
A loan move, and the chance of regular starts it would afford him, may well be an ideal option for Vieira at this time. However, with Mikel Arteta already short on midfield options, owing to the injuries that have been sustained by Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, and Emile Smith Rowe this season, he may well be reluctant to let the player go.
Plenty of Arsenal fans are certainly keen to see Vieira retained for the rest of the campaign.
Taking to X, one fan said, “I can beg Arteta for a whole day not to sell viera Excellent player Bright future.” Another supporter said Arsenal “shouldn’t sell him.”
Referencing the aforementioned injuries that have plagued the Gunners’ midfield contingent recently, one fan urged the club to “keep him. With the way injuries have been piling up I’m sure he’ll get game time here. That cameo against Fulham gave me hope.” Another fan agreed, saying, “he’s not leaving not when we are short of midfielders.”
If he stays at the Emirates Stadium, Vieira will still get plenty of game time this season. Arsenal are competing on multiple fronts this season and Arteta will have to rotate his starting XI regularly. Vieira needs to start taking some of these opportunities on a consistent basis sooner rather than later, though, if he is to prove he deserves a long-term future at the club.
