Arsenal fans now slam ‘finished pundit’ Gary Neville after his dig at the club

Many Arsenal fans have taken issue with one of Gary Neville’s latest comments on the club.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville was perceived to have aimed a subtle dig at Arsenal by many fans with one of his recent statements on X. The pundit said, “Arsenal are in a good place. Not at their best so the hype isn’t big, but they’re solid and getting the job done. Perfect for a team looking to win a title that haven’t before.”

Many of the Gunners’ supporters were quick remind Neville that Arsenal have won thirteen top flight league titles in the past, three of which were in the Premier League era.

Taking to X, one fan said, “Gary we won a title at Old Trafford while you were still playing there.”

With Arsenal currently top of the Premier League table and the Red Devils in eighth, a few fans felt Neville is not well placed to be commenting on the Gunners. As one supporter put it, “Meanwhile your team is relishing somewhere below. Perfect for a finished club, finished manager and finished pundit.”

Another fan said, “Your tears are welcome.” Another told the former full-back to “Concentrate on Man United.”

Arsenal must keep their feet on the ground

Despite this supposed jibe, Neville has backed the north London club to win the league this season. He also feels that Arsenal’s recent trend of being able to pick up wins despite not performing at their best is a positive sign that Mikel Arteta’s side will be able to stay the course until the bitter end this season, rather than slipping up on the final stretch as they did last time out.

The Gunners’ demonstrated their winning mentality once more against Brentford on Saturday evening. Arsenal were frustrated by the Bees’ dogged defensive effort, but stuck to their task and were finally rewarded for their persistence when Kai Havertz nodded in a winner in the 89th minute.

In terms of title talk, the Arsenal players need to be able to shut out any outside noise. They will have learned a lot from last season’s experiences, and will know that there is still a long, long way to go and minimal margin for error available. Arteta will be ensuring that his players remain calm and approach their task on a game-by-game basis.

He will also be hoping his side discover some greater attacking fluency before long. In that sense, there is still some way to go before this Arsenal side can be considered the finished article.
