It’s turned into the perfect weekend for Arsenal football club as a late Enzo Fernandez leveller at Man City handed them a six point cushion at the top of the table.
The Gunners held off Bournemouth to win their own three points then looked on on Sunday as both Liverpool and City surrendered leads in injury time to further enhance Mikel Arteta’s side’s title chances.
With Liverpool also up next for Arsenal, it feels like a big week in the title race and over on social media, Arsenal fans are loving life.
Fill the blanks: I think Mikel Arteta should start _________ at left-back when Arsenal’s squad is fully fit
After seeing Fernandez dent City’s hopes with his late tap in, Arsenal fans have been lapping it up.
Arsenal fans are loving it after Chelsea score late on at The Etihad
This late equaliser from Fernandez at City makes Arsenal’s win at Bournemouth all the more important.
Now, with Arsenal fans revelling in being top of the league and with a comfortable cushion to boot, social media is awash with supporters rubbing City and Pep’s noses in things.

One fan pointed to the upcoming fixture against Liverpool, suggesting a win is now massive.
“Declan Rice said not beating Bournemouth would have cancelled out our win against Villa. #Arsenal need to go into Liverpool with the same mindset and make sure City dropping points to Chelsea during their weakest moment is punished. It’s time to go and win a title. No mercy.”
While another fan was quick to point out what made Arsenal stand out this weekend.
“Arsenal were the only “big 6” club that won this weekend. That’s the second round in a row where that has happened.”
Another fan pointed out in a blunt way how they feel City perform quite regularly.
“City were dogs— in that second half as they have been a lot of this season.”
Of course, with eyes on the title, there is plenty of excitement, with one fan believing it could be happening.
“6 points clear, just keep winning our games and there’s nothing they can do. It’s been in our hands, my eyes are fully on Pool rn”
While another pointed out the impact Chelsea’s goal could have on the Arsenal players in general.
“That’s gonna give the players a massive boost before Liverpool on Thursday. It’s getting tasty.”
Arsenal have to capitalise and keep winning
There is a comment above that notes a quote from Declan Rice and it is bang on the money.
City dropping points is massive but only if Arsenal can see off Liverpool and keep winning their games.
Change my mind: Gabriel Magalhaes ends his Arsenal career with 40+ goals.
As of now, it looks like Arsenal’s title to lose but we’ve all been here before and while a six point gap is healthy, we all know that bigger has been dropped before.
Mikel Arteta has to focus his troops now. A win on Thursday would be huge and if that gap can get to nine or even ten points come the end of January, then we might well have champions elect.
