Arsenal fans react to ‘perfect start’ vs PSV Eindhoven following Champions League victory

Arsenal returned to the Champions League in style with a 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven last night.

Goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard handed Arsenal all three points in a superb victory, on what was their first Champions League match since 2017.

Fans inside the ground and online were buzzing at the result and the performance, which saw Arsenal finally hit their best form in attack this season, and there were a number of standout players in an excellent team performance.

With Sevilla and RC Lens drawing in the other group game, Arsenal have taken the driving seat in the Champions League group stages, as Mikel Arteta aims to finish top to reach the knockout rounds.

Fans took to Twitter after the game to express their delight at how the return to the Champions League went, with many happy that proceedings in the competition had gotten off to an excellent start.

Arsenal’s young side have hit a new level, and one fan even pointed out that Arsenal’s “energy and teamwork were truly impressive,” whilst another described it as “the perfect start.”

Another described the win as “one of the most satisfying games under Mikel (Arteta),” and with four goals, a clean sheet and the players clearly enjoying themselves, it is hard to disagree.

There is plenty of cause for optimism, with a fan claiming that the victory was the “perfect way to begin our UCL title charge.” Whilst it is perhaps too early to talk about winning the competition, Arsenal’s win was a major statement of intent among Europe’s elite.

David Raya made his home debut in goal, and whilst he was hardly threatened, he was confident on the ball and at claiming crosses. One fan has highlighted that Arsenal “kept a clean sheet at home. I can’t remember the last time we did,” as the Gunners have conceded in all of their home games this season.

Whilst Arsenal will soak up the victory for now, attentions will quickly return to the North London derby on Sunday, as Tottenham Hotspur visit the Emirates in a huge game for both sides.
