Arsenal duo William Saliba and Viktor Gyokeres faced each other at the World Cup recently.
France and Sweden met at the round of 32 of the competition, and Didier Deschamps’ side made light work of the men in yellow.
A brace from Kylian Mbappe and a goal from Arsenal target Bradley Barcola sent Gyokeres and his teammates packing.
🏆 Which Arsenal star will go the furthest at this summer’s World Cup?
Zubimendi and Spain? Saka and England? Saliba and France?
After the game, Saliba posted a few pictures on his Instagram, and two of them caught every fan’s eye.
The first image shows the defender standing alongside Gyokeres during the game. The second is of Saliba leaving his club teammate on the ground during a challenge.
Those uploads may not be a coincidence.
Arsenal fans think William Saliba has mocked Viktor Gyokeres on Instagram
William Saliba has been described as Arsenal’s funniest player by many of his teammates.
Now, fans are convinced that the France international has used the first two pictures of his latest Instagram post to poke fun at Viktor Gyokeres after knocking him out of the World Cup.
One supporter commented with a laughing emoji: “Come on, that’s your teammate bro.”
Another said: “Putting Gyokeres’ pics first was definitely a choice.”
“He has truly mugged off Vik there,” wrote another.
Another Gooner replied: “This guy is savage!”
“Nah, he has just violated Gyokeres,” commented another amused Arsenal fan.
Viktor Gyokeres probably knew William Saliba would end his World Cup dream
Sweden making it into the knockout stages of the World Cup is huge.
At one stage, it looked like they wouldn’t even qualify, but Gyokeres almost singlehandedly brought them to the tournament and was one of their best players.
However, before the World Cup even began, Gyokeres claimed he did not want to face Saliba and France.
Sadly, his worst fear came true, and France breezed past Sweden, thus knocking the Arsenal striker out of the competition.
