Journalist Charles Watts in concerned that Arsenal are on the verge of a calamity.
Arsenal are currently enduring an awful run of form. They have lost their last three matches.
The Gunners were knocked out of the FA Cup by Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Prior to that they were beaten by West Ham United and Fulham in consecutive Premier League clashes.
Over the course of these three defeats, the north London club have only scored one goal, when Bukayo Saka was on hand to provide an early tap-in at Craven Cottage.
However, this lack of goals has not come about as a result of a lack goalscoring opportunities. Against West Ham United and Liverpool, in particular, Mikel Arteta’s side had plenty of chances to find the back of the net, only for all of them to go begging.
Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus has come in for plenty of criticism for his poor strike rate. However, he has already openly admitted that goalscoring is not one of the strengths of his game. On top of that, the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Kai Havertz, amongst others, all seem to have been deserted by their finishing touch.
This profligacy has come with a heavy price. As well as being eliminated from the FA Cup, Arsenal have quickly fallen to fourth-place in the Premier League table having been at the top of the tree on Christmas Day.

Arsenal must bounce back now to save title challenge
The Gunners’ title challenge is now every much on the line. There is no more time to waste. Arsenal have to get their mojo in front of goal back now. It could even be the case that Arteta feels he is forced to make use of the current January transfer window in order to bolster his existing attacking options.
In any case, Charles Watts believes that the club’s prospects of enjoying a successful campaign now hang in the balance. Speaking on his Inside Arsenal YouTube platform, the reporter said, “I’m not quite at full-on, sort of, panic mode, but I think if this goes on for another game, or certainly two games, then I will be. As I said, we’re at that key crisis point where it can go two ways.”
Arsenal will next be in action against Crystal Palace on January 20th. Arteta now has a short break in which to work with his squad and try to fix some of the issues they are having in the final third on the training pitch. Arsenal must take this opportunity to reset and get their Premier League campaign back on track against the Eagles. If they fail to do so then their title chances could well be considered as good as dead.
