Theo Walcott and Emmanuel Adebayor played together at Arsenal.

The Englishman joined the club from Southampton as a teenager in January 2006 and spent over a decade at the club.

Adebayor also joined the Gunners in the same window, but he left just three-and-a-half years later to join Manchester City.

That move upset Arsenal fans, and some of Adebayor’s actions since leaving have further strained his relationship with the Emirates Stadium faithful.

That is why Walcott’s latest comments will be welcomed by Arsenal supporters

Theo Walcott’s two-word response when asked if Emmanuel Adebayor would get into the current Arsenal side

Arsenal have one of the best squads in Europe right now.

Mikel Arteta already had a number of incredible players at his disposal, but Andrea Berta gave him eight new signings in the summer to take the squad to a whole new level.

One of Arsenal’s big signings was Viktor Gyokeres, who was the most prolific striker in Europe over the previous two campaigns.

The Swede scored 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting CP, and he has now been tasked to lead Arsenal to glory this season.

In a video on Amazon Prime Video Sport, Walcott claimed that Robin van Persie would start in this Arsenal side, presumably ahead of Gyokeres.

That is a controversial claim, but when Adebayor’s name was put in front of him, Walcott issued a response that Arsenal fans will love.

“Absolutely not,” he said, before laughing at the suggestion.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s stats at Arsenal

Adebayor had the potential to become a star at Arsenal.

The Togo striker was big, strong and clinical in the box. He produced some big performances in the famous red and white and scored some memorable goals, especially against Tottenham.

80 direct goal contributions in 142 games is a very decent return for a striker, which just shows you that Adebayor could’ve gone on to be an Arsenal great.

However, he ruined his legacy – not just by moving to Manchester City but also by disrespecting the Gunners with his outrageous celebration after scoring against them.

To make things worse, he later joined Tottenham, which is absolutely unforgivable for Arsenal fans.
