Adam Wharton claims that Crystal Palace have no intention of beating Arsenal to ‘stop them winning the Premier League’ and is adamant they focused solely on themselves.

The Palace midfielder was asked about the significance of Palace being Arsenal’s final match of the season, but the 21-year-old did not seem to care.

The South London club have a European final of their own to worry about, and stopping Arsenal winning the Premier League title is the least of their concerns.

Mikel Arteta’s team could even have the title wrapped up before the game even kicks off, if they were to beat Burnley and Man City drop points at Bournemouth.

Adam Wharton is unfazed about trying to stop Arsenal from winning the Premier League

Adam Wharton has no interest in the Premier League title race and has dismissed claims that they could be the team to stop Arsenal winning it.

The England international says there will have been 37 other matches that will have helped to settle it, and he is only focused on Crystal Palace winning the game for themselves.

The Eagles have a Europa Conference League final to worry about just three days after the final Premier League game, and that is now their main focus.

Wharton told the media: “We’re not deciding the title next week; there have been 37 games this season. We have another game a few days after [the Conference League final].

This is our predicted Arsenal XI vs Burnley. What changes would you make?

“We’re not looking at trying to beat them so that they don’t win [the title]. That is none of our concern. We are focusing on ourselves and making sure we’re in the right position for the following Wednesday.”

However, Wharton remains adamant that Palace wants to win their final home game of the season and prepare in the best way possible to face Rayo Vallecano.

Wharton added: “We just think what is best for us. We are not responsible for Arsenal or Manchester City.

“It is the last game at Selhurst [Park], so it is a big game for our fans, and we need this game for top preparation for the [Conference League] final on Wednesday.”

Arsenal would love to have the Premier League title wrapped up before they travel away to Selhurst Park on the final day of the season.

Therefore, they must beat Burnley and then hope Bournemouth can do them a favour on Tuesday against City.
