Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is managing the France men’s football team at the Olympics, and his side have now reached the final of the competition.

France are the hosts of the tournament, and they are taking the competition seriously, with former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette captaining the side.

After a dramatic quarter-final victory against Argentina, after which Henry was angry as both sets of players engaged in fights at the full time whistle, the hosts came up against Egypt, and found themselves a goal down.

However, a late equaliser from Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta took the game to extra time, in which he doubled his tally before former Arsenal target Michael Olise netted a third.

Henry was seen celebrating the victory, which has brought France to their first Olympic football final in 40 years, and Arsenal fans are loving what their former striker is doing at the tournament.

Arsenal fans react as Thierry Henry helps France reach Olympics final

Henry was filmed dancing with the France squad after the game, and fans have pointed out that whilst the Arsenal legend has seldom been seen in such a good mood during his coaching career, this was a nice throwback to the character on display during his deadly years as the best striker in the Premier League.

“Thierry Henry is living LIFE as a coach I’ve legit never seen him so animated,” one fan posted on X.

“Henry dropped the nonchalant gimmick and started to find success as a manager,” another fan pointed out.

Fans are now hoping that Henry, who was incredibly successful as a player, can find some as a manager, having struggled in his coaching career so far.

“I’m over the moon for Thierry Henry and the U-23 side. At least, silver guaranteed in the Olympics. Considering how many rejections the former Monaco and Montreal Impact manager got, getting to the finals is nothing short of phenomenal,” another fan pointed out.

Lacazette was not the only former Arsenal star to feature in the semi-final, as Mohamed Elneny captained the Egypt side.

Elneny was Egypt’s most senior player in the absence of Mohamed Salah, and he faced a former teammate in Lacazette.

Lacazette missed a golden chance in the 60th minute of the game, which frustrated Henry, whilst Elneny played for the entire match as his side fell to an agonising defeat.

Elneny departed Arsenal on a free transfer in July, and has since joined Dubai side Al Jazira, and was a popular figure at the club despite his lack of game time in recent years.
