Arsenal suffered yet another injury scare against Liverpool as Gabriel Magalhaes was forced to withdraw.

The Brazilian came off shortly after the interval to be replaced by Jakub Kiwior after failing to play on after hurting his knee.

Gabriel attempted to carry on however, went down moments later to make Mikel Arteta’s greatest fear come true.

Arsenal were left without William Saliba and Gabriel on the pitch against Liverpool, with the hope now being that the Brazil international’s blow is not severe.

Gabriel Magalhaes injury update after Liverpool

An expert predicted Gabriel’s injury, suggesting that the centre-back might have suffered an MCL blow.

Such injury could see the defender miss out on anywhere between a week to a month of football, with scans required to determine the severity.

That being said, there is also some uplifting news regarding the 26-year-old’s fitness, as Dr Rajpal Brar explained on X when quoting a picture that Gabriel posted after the game.

The Brazilian posted a photo on Instagram of himself with a device on his knee, which has been explained by the expert.

“Looks like a GameReady or similar icing device that helps reduce pain and helps with swelling. Often used to manage mild injuries so this is a good sign.”

Arsenal fans will be particularly interested in the last two words of the doctor’s evaluation, with there a ‘good sign’ in the fact that Gabriel used the device after his injury.

Arsenal suffer more bad luck on the injury front

The update on Gabriel will come as a relief after what has been nothing short of a hideous start to the season on the injury front for Arsenal.

Key players have been missing throughout the 2024/25 campaign, with Arteta arguably not having his favoured XI at his disposal yet.

The idea of losing Gabriel for some time on top of other absences would be a nightmare for the boss, with the Brazilian one of the most important pieces of his Arsenal puzzle.

With Calafiori also injured, Arteta would have a real concern to address if Gabriel were to be unavailable, as the Italian would ordinarily fill the centre-back’s boots temporarily but instead, Arsenal’s depth could be stretched.
