Arsenal are awaiting further news on club captain Martin Odegaard’s injury ahead of the North London derby.
The international break has been an anxiety fuelling time for Mikel Arteta back in North London, as several key players are on duty.
Things haven’t been made any easier by the two injury concerns that have plagued the squad during the break in domestic play, with a pair of Arsenal first teamers now a doubt for the upcoming clash against Spurs.
After Riccardo Calafiori withdrew from international duty, Martin Odegaard suffered an injury to raise the level of concern at the Emirates.

The Arsenal captain was challenged during Norway’s win over Austria in the Nations League, seeing him hobble off the pitch in great discomfort.
It’s suspected that Odegaard suffered a ‘small ankle sprain’, as determined prematurely by the Norwegian medical team although, it’s not yet known just how severe the midfielder’s blow is.
Odegaard returned to London on crutches to add more fuel to Arteta’s anxiety, with another report on a possible timeline of his absence the making of a nightmare.

The Mirror cited that there are fears in Norway that the Arsenal skipper could be out for a month, with the next international break being the potential timescale of his recovery.
It’s still incredibly early to tell just how bad Odegaard’s injury is, given how fresh the trauma to his ankle is and that the 25-year-old is yet to have a scan to determine the severity.

If Norwegian fears come true, then Arsenal are set for a gruelling spell without their captain and famed playmaker in the front line.
The Gunners play seven games in the time separating the September and October international breaks, with fixtures that are set to test the adaptability of Arteta’s side.
