Arsenal are looking at reinforcements in wide areas this summer and their search has now taken them to look at one of Spain’s top young talents.

The Gunners have had success in recent years with the likes of Leandro Trossard, Gabi Martinelli and Bukayo Saka all contributing.

However, with uncertainties surrounding the futures of Martinelli and Trossard, the Gunners are looking at new players who can play down the left-hand side.

Now, according to TeamTalk, that search has taken them to La Liga and in particular, Real Sociedad.

So many good celebrations at Arsenal, but whose is the best?

Arsenal interested in signing Ander Barrenetxea

Arsenal will be looking to keep on improving this summer and there is no chance Mikel Arteta will allow his squad to stand still, regardless of any success.

Indeed, it is now claimed that Arsenal are among the clubs looking to sign Sociedad star Ander Barrenetxea.

Barrenetxea has become one of the top players in Spain outside of the big three and has already made his Spain debut recently, albeit it remains to be seen if he will go to the World Cup.

Predominantly a left-winger who likes to come inside to create, Barrenetxea can also play as a ten or out on the right. As stated in the same report, Barrenetxea has been compared to French legend Antoine Griezmann for his style of play, a big compliment in the modern game.

His numbers this season might not be brilliant – just five goals and four assists all season – but at just 24, there is a feeling there’s more to come from the Spaniard.

One potential blocker for Arsenal could be the reported £65m release-clause in his contract.

While Barrenetxea has looked good, that is a huge sum for the Gunners to fork out on an unproven talent.

Furthermore, there is also heavy interest from Aston Villa and teams in Germany, while Chelsea have also sent scouts alongside Arsenal to watch him this season.

Nevertheless, Barrenetxea is a name to keep an eye on ahead of what is bound to be another busy summer.
