Arsenal secured their biggest win of the Premier League season in a 6-0 victory away to West Ham, and Paul Merson has made an interesting comparison to Manchester City.

The Gunners enjoyed one of their best results of the season as Declan Rice came back to haunt his former club in fantastic fashion, with Leandro Trossard also impressing on the day.

And Arsenal icon Merson made an interesting observation after the full-time whistle, with the pundit in awe over his former club’s performance in east London this afternoon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson claimed that Arsenal’s result and performance against West Ham is better than what people are giving them credit for, with the pundit saying City would be praised to the heavens if they repeated the display today.

Indeed, it is an interesting comparison to make and one that would stand true if Pep Guardiola’s side have repeated what Arsenal managed today, with the Gunners often not getting as much credit as they deserve for big wins.

Merson said about the result: “It is just a massive result, it has done the goal difference the world of good – if this was Man City today who had won that game 6-0, we would be waxing lyrical.

“They have literally made West Ham surrender, they turned up, started well and carried it on and kept on going. A brilliant, brilliant result by Arsenal.”

Since returning from the winter break, Arsenal have finally arrived in the Premier League after an opening half that left supporters puzzled as to what direction the club were going.

Yet the numbers speak for themselves, with the Gunners the in-form in the division having won their last four matches, scoring 16 and conceding just two in the process.

Many expected Arsenal to bounce back from their festive fixture slump having returned from Dubai, yet few would have predicted the Gunners to be this good.

And with a 6-0 thrashing of West Ham now in the books, Arsenal look unstoppable going into their upcoming Premier League fixtures, which now look winnable from their point of view.
