Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola are among the greatest managers world football has ever seen.
The Spaniard began his managerial career in Spain at Barcelona, where he built one of the greatest sides in history with the likes of Lionel Messi, Andreas Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez.
Guardiola then achieved great success at Bayern Munich before taking charge of Manchester City and making them the club they are today.
Wenger, on the other hand, is a legend for the work he did at Arsenal for over two decades. The Frenchman is an absolute icon of the game, and we’re sure even Guardiola looks up to him – as an inspiration and maybe even with a bit of envy.
Robert Pires names the Arsene Wenger record that Pep Guardiola is desperate to break
Wenger achieved a number of incredible things when he was the manager of Arsenal.
The Frenchman won the double in his first full season at the club. He added two more Premier League titles as well, while he’s also the most successful manager in FA Cup history.
Those things alone make Wenger an Arsenal legend, but that’s not all he achieved during his 22 years in North London.
Wenger’s greatest achievement as Arsenal’s manager was when he led his side through an entire Premier League season without losing a single game.
Nobody else in the history of the competition has been able to achieve that feat – not even Sir Alex Ferguson or Guardiola.
Robert Pires has now claimed that he is convinced that Guardiola is desperate to match or better Wenger’s record before his time at Manchester City comes to an end.
The Arsenal Invincible said on John Obi Mikel’s podcast: “It’s crazy (going a season unbeaten). Look, even Liverpool, even Man City, they couldn’t break the record. They have a lot of money. They can buy great, great players.
“And I know Pep Guardiola, he wants to break that. Because he knows it’s very difficult. First thing, it’s very difficult to win this title, but if you win the title unbeaten, it’s the best.
“I think someone will break, I don’t know how, but I know Pep Guardiola, he wants to break it.”

Can Mikel Arteta make Arsenal Invincible again?
Going an entire season unbeaten is a near-impossible thing to do in the Premier League.
People laughed at Wenger when he first said his side could do it, but he proved them all wrong in the following campaign and achieved greatness.
Mikel Arteta is at the helm at Arsenal now, and the aim for the Spaniard is to bring the Premier League title back to the red half of North London.
But, can he go an entire season unbeaten?
It is very, very unlikely, but Arsenal only lost five league games in the 2023/24 season. Two of those came against Aston Villa, while the other three were when they faced Newcastle United, Fulham and West Ham.
All five of those games were winnable and Arsenal are more than capable of picking up maximum points in the corresponding fixtures this season.
If they can do that and then replicate every other result from last term, they will become the new Invincibles.
It is possible, but as we said above, it’s extremely unlikely.
