Arsenal’s interest in Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen has been confirmed after Edu Gaspar’s recent comments on what will happen this summer.

The Gunners sporting director has been influential to Arsenal’s return to the top of English football alongside Mikel Arteta, with the duo making the perfect signings to help rebuild the squad.

The likes of Ben White, Gabriel Jesus and Declan Rice were all brought in by Edu, with the Brazilian transfer guru set for another big test this summer in the transfer window.

And according to journalist Charles Watts, two players Edu could be targeting are Brentford striker Toney and Napoli star Osimhen, who were both strongly linked with Arsenal in the summer.

Indeed, everyone and their mother knows a centre-forward is at the top of Arsenal’s shopping list this summer, and there will be pressure on Edu to land the right signing later this year.

Watts said when talking about Edu’s recent transfer comments: “In January, it was all about Ivan Toney and would he move from Brentford, and as I’ve said before, Arsenal like Ivan Toney and have looked at him.

“I don’t know who they will sign in the summer, but they will sign someone. I don’t know if it’ll be one of the names that have banded around like Toney or Osimhen, but I do know there is interest there, but I’m not sure if that interest will go further.”

Arsenal have shown under Edu and Arteta that they’re willing to spend big on the right players, with the aforementioned Rice the clearest testament to such a statement.

And a new striker this summer could end up being just as important to Arsenal in the long-term as the addition of Rice last year, who this season has been a revelation.

Adding a world-class striker to this squad could be the final piece of the puzzle for Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League, and Edu needs to ensure that his final decision this summer is the right one for the Gunners.
