Former Arsenal defender Lauren has had his say on whether the north London club can win the Premier League title this season.

In his time as a player at the club, Lauren won two Premier League titles. He was a key part of the iconic Invincibles squad which won the league in 2004 without losing a single game throughout the entire campaign.

In total, across six seasons at the club, the right-back racked up 242 appearances in all competitions and scored eleven goals.

The Invincibles were the last Arsenal team to win the Premier League title. However, Mikel Arteta’s side came close to claiming the trophy last season and Lauren believes that they can get the job done this time around.

In an interview with The Guardian, Lauren said, “there have been good teams, good players, but there’s been a long wait. Now we have a real possibility, this generation has a genuine chance.”

“Last year they were on the edge of it and this year I think they can; this team is ready. This Arsenal can win it.”

Arsenal have all the ingredients needed for title triumph

There is certainly plenty of quality in this Arsenal squad, with room to grow. The likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba, Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard, and Gabriel Martinelli, amongst others, are already performing at a very high level but it is likely that their best years are still ahead of them.

Furthermore, Thomas Partey, Jorginho, Mohamed Elneny, and Leandro Trossard offer a measure of experience to the group. Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Kai Havertz have won major honours in the game before, too. Having that winning experience in a squad is a huge help. They know what it takes to get the job done.

Lauren is not the only pundit to have backed the Gunners to top the Premier League table at the end of the season. However, improvements are needed if they are to get to that point. Despite being unbeaten in the league so far, Arsenal haven’t been at their best. As an attacking force they are yet to really click.

Hopefully, this means that the team will raise their game as the season goes on so that they are at their peak form when it really matters.
