Edu Gaspar verdict on Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal transfer
Arsenal’s hunt for a new striker is still ongoing after the side missed out on a deal to sign RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko.
Many different names have come and gone in their search, but one that has stuck around is Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
The 26-year-old scored 29 goals and assisted nine times in 33 league appearances, marking an impressive debut season for the club.
That record rarely goes under the radar, with the Gunners amongst those taking a closer look at the Swedish international.

According to a report from TeamTalk, Arsenal are currently leading the race to sign Gyokeres, with sporting director Edu Gaspar claimed to be a “huge admirer” of the forward.
Negotiating a deal with value may be tough though, with his release clause costing a whopping £84.6million to activate.
It remains to be seen whether it will be triggered or not amid that interest from the Emirates Stadium outfit.

Mikel Arteta praise for Jurrien Timber
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Jurrien Timber as he belatedly welcomed the defender back to the side in pre-season.
The Dutchman joined the club last summer from Ajax but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury that ruled him out for most of the season.
With a difficult rehab period out of the way, supporters will be hopeful of getting a glimpse of what the versatile star is truly capable of.
Discussing his return in pre-season, Arteta told the press: “Now he’s getting the rhythm because obviously he’s missed a lot of football in the last year or so.

“We’ve asked him to play in a different position than we had in mind due to the numbers and the players we have at the moment, but I’m really happy.
“Just look at him, his pressing, his leadership, his composure. He’s like a new signing for us and a big addition to the team.”
It remains to be seen just how well Timber can play for Arsenal, but he will be looking to make up for some lost time this season.

Cesc Fabregas snubs Arsenal star in rankings
Former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas has snubbed an old teammate of his when ranking his top three most technically gifted players he has played with.
The Spaniard was brought to the Gunners at just 17 years old from Barcelona and he quickly made his way through the academy ranks and into the first team.
Fabregas continued to rise the ranks before he eventually made a return to the Catalonian outfit many years later.
As quoted by The Mirror, the former midfielder said: “Bergkamp, Rosicky and Hleb,” were the three most technically gifted players he featured alongside in North London.

While few would argue the talent of the players named, it is interesting to note the huge players absent from the list.
Thierry Henry, for example, is one option that almost always tops any ranking made by former teammates of his.
