Arsenal legend says Man City have a player ‘much better’ than £27m Arteta signing who is ‘hard to cope with’

Arsenal are coming under more criticism after a poor run of results, and their title hopes are hanging by a thread.

Mikel Arteta has been criticised for the way he has dealt with the absence of Martin Odegaard. Teenager Ethan Nwaneri has impressed in his showings, but Arteta has favoured the more experienced Leandro Trossard.

This decision has come back to bite him, as Trossard has been well below par in a midfield role, and Arsenal have struggled to create chances.

The Gunners failed to score in away defeats against Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Inter Milan, with Trossard criticised after all three.

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has now claimed that Trossard is vastly inferior to Man City’s equivalent player, but has also pointed out that the Belgian is being put in a tough position.

Emmanuel Petit says Bernardo Silva is better than Leandro Trossard

Speaking to talkSPORT, Petit highlighted Trossard’s versatility as a strength and a weakness, and claimed that Man City star Bernardo Silva also offers the same, whilst being a better player.

“He reminds me of Silva at City, but Silva for me is a much better player than Trossard,” Petit stated.

“He can play in different positions, but do you know the real position of Trossard?

“I have no idea. I like him. He is a good player, honestly, but, you know, changing position all the time like this just to suit Arteta or the tactics, sometimes, you know, it’s hard to cope with it.”

Trossard has come under fire for his displays in recent months, and Arsenal may face a tough decision over their £27m signing.

Should Arsenal sell Leandro Trossard?

Arsenal rejected an offer from Saudi Arabia for Trossard after the summer window shut, which given other absences, was the right decision.

Trossard has played across the front three and in midfield, with his versatility making him a good squad player.

However, the Belgian has underwhelmed when starting, and Trossard is seemingly unhappy with a bench role.

In the summer window, it may be time to part ways with the 29-year-old and find a younger, more dynamic option who can take his place in the squad.
