According to a report from AS, Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on signing Real Madrid’s Isco. The Spaniard has played just 170 minutes of football due to injuries and Zinedine Zidane’s other preferences and he is likely to head out of the door in next two transfer windows.
The report reveals that Pep Guardiola has chosen Isco as David Silva’s successor at the Etihad but Arsenal are considering the move too. However, signing him would have further implications over a few other members of the squad.
Dani Ceballos, who operates in a similar role to Isco, could well move back to Real Madrid if his compatriot is signed. Mesut Ozil, who’s Arsenal career looks to be over already, could be forced out too if Isco comes in.
The idea of keeping hold of Ceballos and bringing in Isco makes sense with former playing as a number eight. However, that would push the likes of Granit Xhaka, Jow Willock and Lucas Torreira out of the starting lineup.
Isco is undoubtedly a classy player who could potentially fill the void left by Santi Cazorla in the centre of our midfield. However, he has been terribly inconsistent and the physical side of the English game will make it harder for him to settle down.
Arsenal’s priority going into the next two transfer window has to be about the defence. A new centre-half is an absolute necessity a world-class one will potentially be a lot cheaper than Isco or any other attacker of his level.
