Arsenal open fresh contract talks with Declan Rice

According to the BBC, Arsenal and Rice have started early negotiations about a new deal that would run until at least beyond the 2030 mark.

Rice’s current deal ends in 2028 and there is a year extension in there but it’s claimed here that the Gunners want him to extend beyond that.

One of the key details included is another pay rise for Rice, who already earns around the £240,000-a-week mark at The Emirates.

Arsenal splashed £100m on Rice in one of the most high profile Premier League transfers in recent seasons but his signing has been more than worth the money.

Many consider Rice the best midfielder in the country and there’s even been talk of him being in the Ballon d’Or conversation should Arsenal win trophies.

With Bukayo Saka tied down to a long-term deal and players like William Saliba also on long-term teams, Arsenal are moving to ensure their core is kept together for the future.

No decision or announcement is expected yet on any potential deal for Rice. However, the midfielder is more than happy at The Emirates and with the process under way, he’s expected to put pen to paper at some point.
