Mikel Arteta‘s men had the opportunity to get one over Bayern after the years of pain they’ve inflicted on us, but over the two legs, we just couldn’t get over the line.

The German giants deservedly won the second leg on Wednesday night, and that has ended Arsenal’s Champions League dreams this season.

Pundit says Bukayo Saka has made a mistake that will be talked about for years

Bukayo Saka is one of Arsenal’s best players, there’s no debate there.

The 22-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions this season, which is an excellent return for a wide player.

Against Bayern Munich in the first leg, Saka scored the opener. That pushed him to eight direct goal contributions in the Champions League this season, which is the most by an English player in his debut campaign in the history of the competition.

Arsenal fans were hoping to see Saka do the business again on Wednesday night, but the winger had a really poor game in Munich.

He really struggled all game and his corner right at the end, which failed to even clear the first man, summed up his night.

However, TalkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy believes Saka made a mistake in the first leg that was much worse than his poor display on Wednesday. He thinks that will be talked about for years to come.

He said on The Sports Bar on TalkSPORT after the game: “If you look back over the tie, your home leg, you’re 1-0 up and cruising. Shot yourselves in the foot. Then you get yourself back in it at 2-2.

“Saka’s got to stay on his feet. I don’t know why. People will talk about that for years, why he’s not stayed on his feet?!”

Bukayo Saka’s stats against Bayern Munich are so poor

Before every rival fan jumps on Bukayo Saka, it’s important to remember that he is still just 22 years old and is in his debut season in the Champions League.

To add to that, Saka has played so much football this season, and every Arsenal fan can see that he’s tired. It was overly evident in his performance against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

In his 90 minutes on the pitch, Saka had zero shots on target and failed to create a single chance. He also failed to complete any of his dribbles and was unsuccessful with all of his crosses as well.

Saka will be the first to admit that he had a poor game, and we’re sure he will do everything he can to bounce back against Wolves on Saturday.
