Nuno Tavares, who is currently on loan in France at Marseille, may never play for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal again.
That’s according to Ben Jacobs, who has revealed to TeamTalk that the Gunners will likely sell him at the end of this season despite his impressive performances in Ligue 1.
The 23-year-old will have two years left on his Arsenal contract this summer.

Why Pele Is Overrated.
Nuno Tavares may never play for Arsenal again
Tavares exploded for Marseille when he moved to the Ligue 1 last summer.
The Portuguese defender was one of the best young players in France, but over the last month or so, his form has dropped drastically.
To add to that, Arsenal have plenty of cover in his position at the moment, and the fact that he didn’t cost a lot of money two years ago means we can sell him for a big profit this summer.
That’s the reason why Jacobs thinks Tavares will not get another opportunity at Arsenal and he’ll be sold.
The journalist said: “With Tavares, I think it’s very unlikely that he’ll play for Arsenal again. That’s just a positional kind of thing.
“Zinchenko, Tierney, at the moment, is still there, Tomiyasu there, as well.
“And the thing with Tavares is that Arsenal can probably, if not definitely get a profit off him because he’s only 23 years of age and the fee that Arsenal paid in 2021 for Tavares was only £8 million.
“That means that if they do choose to sell him, they’ll be able to cash in and make a tidy profit, which will reflect well on their books, on Financial Fair Play and provide an opportunity to clear some squad space in order to no doubt bolster in other positions.”

His behaviour annoyed Mikel Arteta
If there’s one thing Mikel Arteta will not entertain, it’s bad behaviour.
Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Matteo Guendouzi were all shown the door for issues behind the scenes. Arteta didn’t let those three get away with it, so you’d imagine Tavares doesn’t stand a chance.
French newspaper L’Equipe, as translated by SportWitness, revealed last month that Arteta and his staff at Arsenal were often ‘annoyed’ by Tavares’ behaviour while he was at the club last season.
That’s the reason why he was loaned out last summer and that could also be why Arteta could get rid of him at the end of this campaign.
