Arne Slot has revealed that Hugo Ekitike has not trained with Liverpool’s squad ahead of their trip to North London to face Arsenal.

The Gunners host Liverpool in another massive match in the Premier League title race, but the Reds are looking rather depleted.

Arne Slot’s team will head to the Emirates Stadium without either of their two new strikers, with Alexander Isak also sidelined with an injury.

Mikel Arteta will now be hopeful of exacting revenge on the team that defeated Arsenal earlier this season at Anfield.

Hugo Ekitike is a serious doubt for Arsenal vs Liverpool

Hugo Ekitike is now a serious doubt for Arsenal against Liverpool in the Premier League due to injury, Slot has revealed.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the match, Slot told the media: “He’s not trained with us until now. Let’s see if he can today.”

The Merseyside club will now be sweating over the fitness of their only available striker, with his absence likely to be a massive blow.

Liverpool were also without him on the weekend as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Fulham in West London.

Ekitike, who was linked with Arsenal, has been in great form recently, producing six goal involvements in his last five Premier League appearances.

Arsenal’s chances of defeating the defending Premier League champions would be significantly boosted with another win in N5 on Thursday.

Viktor Gyokeres would love the chance to have his say in the fixture to prove that he remains a key part of Arteta’s team.

Cody Gakpo set to replace Hugo Ekitike vs Arsenal

Cody Gakpo remains the most likely candidate to start in the number nine role against Arsenal, having done so against Fulham.

Slot could name a similar team to the one which started at Craven Cottage, with Jeremie Frimpong coming back into the team to replace Conor Bradley.

Meanwhile, for Arsenal, Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are nicely rested for the clash, having started on the bench against Bournemouth.

Noni Madueke impressed against the Cherries, but Saka could well return on the right, with Trossard also replacing Trossard.
