The defender missed the trip to face Portsmouth in the FA Cup over the weekend, with reports suggesting that he was rested.

Now, ahead of their trip across the capital, Arteta will be doing so with one of his best players fit and ready to go.

William Saliba and Leandro Trossard injury updates before Chelsea vs Arsenal

William Saliba and Leandro Trossard will both be available for selection for Chelsea versus Arsenal, according to Hand of Arsenal.

Saliba and Trossard missed the win over Portsmouth, but have recovered in time for the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.

Arteta worried fans by suggesting that neither player would be fit to face the Blues, although the pair are in the matchday squad.

Both players are most likely set to start for Arteta’s team, with Saliba coming at centre-back and Trossard taking Gabriel Martinelli’s place at left wing.

Back in November, Saliba missed Arsenal’s Premier League game against Chelsea, which ended in a 1-1 draw, but this time the Blues could face him and Gabriel.

For Chelsea, it’s a massive occasion as new manager Liam Rosenior takes charge of the team for the first time at Stamford Bridge.

The Bridge is likely to be rocking on Wednesday evening, meaning the Gunners will need all of their experienced players on the pitch.

Arteta is already without key defenders, as Piero Hincapie, Cristhian Mosquera and Riccardo Calafiori are all sidelined.
