Arsenal now have an expected return date for Martin Odegaard.
Club captain Martin Odegaard has not featured for Arsenal since November 1st, as he has missed matches against Newcastle United, Sevilla, and Burnley with a hip injury.
On top of this hip complaint, Odegaard also suffered a concussion during training, after receiving a ball to the head.
Prior to this lay off, Mikel Arteta admitted that the Norwegian midfielder had been playing with some level of discomfort.
Odegaard is a key player for the north London outfit, and is arguably the most talented individual in the squad. Since joining Arsenal on a permanent basis in the summer of 2021, arriving in a £30 million switch from Real Madrid, the 24-year-old has developed into one of the most effective attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
Last season, Odegaard racked up fifteen goals and eight assists in the English top flight. He carried that fine form into the new campaign, and has already notched five strikes, across all competitions, this time around.
Having a fit and in-form Odegaard will be vital for the Gunners this season. Whilst Arteta has plenty of back up options to call upon in that part of the pitch, none of Kai Havertz, Fabio Vieira, or Emile Smith Rowe have shown that they can have anything like Odegaard’s level of influence.

Arsenal given good news about Martin Odegaard
Fortunately, Arteta will be able to call upon Odegaard again very soon. The 55-cap Norway international has not featured for his country during the current international break, but his national team manager has now provided an encouraging update on his recovery progress.
Norway manager, Stale Solbakken, as quoted by The Mirror, recently said, “he is getting better and better and gradually stepping up. It has been more or less three weeks without any special training, so it is important to take things step by step. Both he and Arsenal probably hope that he is available for the Brentford match.”
The Gunners are set to travel to Brentford for a Premier League clash on Saturday, November 25th. It would be a huge boost for Arteta if Odegaard could play a part for the Bees. Following this revelation from Solbakken, that has to now be viewed as a realistic return date for the former Real Madrid man.
However, Arsenal would be unwise to rush Odegaard back into action if there is any risk of aggravating his injury. They have to handle the player with care and manage his return with caution. After all, with all due respect, Arsenal ought to have enough firepower to get past Brentford even without their captain on the pitch. In any case, it seems it won’t be long before the No. 8 is available for selection again.
