In the thrilling 4-3 victory over Luton Town, Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka broke two records in what has been an incredible season for the 22-year-old so far.
Having become the youngest player since Cesc Fabregas in 2008 to reach 200 appearances for Arsenal, he marked the occasion by laying on an assist for Gabriel Martinelli.
When the Brazilian slotted home the Gunner’s opening goal, Saka became the best in Europe for one astounding statistic.

Bukayo Saka has most assists in Europe in 23/24
After recording his 11th assist of the campaign at Kenilworth Road, Saka now tops the charts across the top five European leagues for the most assists this season.
The Gunners prodigy is ahead of fellow Englishman James Ward-Prowse (8) and Kieran Trippier (7) as well as Bundesliga stars Florian Wirtz (9) and Xavi Simons (8).
Statistically, the most creative player in Europe, Mikel Arteta’s precocious talent continues to go from strength to strength in an Arsenal shirt.
This is demonstrated by the numbers he’s reached for goals contributions this season.
In 21 appearances in all competitions, Saka has plundered eight goals to go with his assist collection of 11.
To put such a record into perspective, the £195k-a-week whiz is only five-goal contributions from eclipsing his impressive tally of 15 goals and 11 assists last term.
With Arsenal in a tussle for the title and likely to go deep into the Champions League, Saka has five months to beat his previous record.
Considering the blistering form he’s in having contributed a goal or an assist in his last six matches for the club, there’s no doubt that the Englishman will smash that record, but which other one is he looking to break?
Saka can break Premier League record for assists in one season
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in 2002/03 and Kevin De Bruyne in 2019/20 hold the Premier League record for most assists in one season (20).
Saka, who is currently on seven in the competition, has a shot at breaking that record – if not this campaign – in the future.
The “exceptional” star, as lauded by England manager Gareth Southgate following his hat-trick against North Macedonia in June, possesses the world-class talent to achieve anything he sets his mind to.
After reaching a career-high 11 assists in the Premier League last season, it is clear that the youngster has become a creative machine down the right flank and if he continues his current rate of output, eclipsing 20 assists in one season isn’t out of his reach.
