Arsenal’s injury problems have cut deep this season as absences continue to have an impact on Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The Gunners currently have several long-term absentees, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus guaranteed to be out for the remainder of the season heading into the next.
Fellow attacking duo Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are out of action too, though there is an expectation that they will be back some time in March.
While Arsenal await those returns, there will be some hope that they don’t suffer any more problems to keep their season going.
However, there is another fresh issue for Mikel Arteta to consider with his squad for the weeks ahead.

Takehiro Tomiyasu confirms surgery for knee injury
Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu has suffered from injury problems throughout his career at the club so far, often clouding his impressive defensive displays.
The defender has played just six minutes of action this season, with those injuries flaring up for him once again.
A knee problem at the start of the campaign kept the Japanese international sidelined for some time before he made his return.
However, another flare-up of the issue has kept him out ever since, with some attempts made to step up his recovery.
With that in mind, Arsenal have decided to let Tomiyasu undergo a knee procedure that is set to sideline him for some time.
The 26-year-old confirmed as much on social media, posting: “I’ve had a surgery on my knee few days ago and I’ve already started my rehab to do what I love the most again.
“It has been the toughest period in my career for sure and it carries on a bit more but I won’t give up.
Thank you for your support and see you again.”
It’s unclear whether Tomiyasu will be back again before the end of the season, with time now to be taken to help recover with a long-term view to getting back on the pitch.

Seven different problems have sidelined the defender for an extended period of time, coming as a huge blow to a bright start he had with the Gunners.

|---|---|---|---|
| 21/22 | Calf | 61 days | 11 |
| 22/23 | Muscular | 13 days | 4 |

There will be plenty of hope that the defender can return to the pitch soon, given how valuable a squad member he is around the Emirates Stadium.
