Arsenal star Declan Rice now admits that he hates one thing about being in a title race

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has now admitted that he can’t stand one aspect of being involved in a Premier League title race.

Declan Rice is struggling to watch Arsenal’s title rivals in action as the race to be crowned champions heats up.

Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all currently battling it out for the Premier League title. Of this trio of clubs, the Gunners will be the last to play in this round of top flight fixtures. On Saturday, Liverpool snatched a last-gasp win against Nottingham Forest. On Sunday, Manchester City produced a comeback from behind to beat their bitter local rivals, Manchester United.

The north London club need both of their title rivals to drop points, and at one stage this weekend, both of them looked set to do just that. Ultimately, though, Liverpool and Manchester City were both able to pick up wins. Now, rather than seeking to take advantage of a rivals’ slip up, Mikel Arteta’s side must travel to Bramall Lane this evening with a mission to simply keep up with the pace of the title race.

Former midfielder Cesc Fabregas has claimed that there is extra pressure on Arsenal now due to them being the last of the three clubs to play. However, the Gunners really ought to still have enough to beat Sheffield United, who are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

For Rice, though, the sight of seeing Liverpool and Manchester City constantly picking up points has started to take a toll.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the 25-year-old said, “I hate watching it now, I hate watching it. You know, I see the results, but I just try to focus on what we’re doing. We can’t control what others are doing. Obviously, the league is so strong. City are unbelievable. Liverpool are unbelievable…Every game is tough. You cannot overlook anyone, and anything can happen. I’m really relishing going out every week and having to play really well.”

In the Arsenal dressing room, Arteta will be doing all he can to keep Rice and his teammates focused on their own task. Whilst they do need Manchester City to drop points, the Gunners will have the opportunity to inflict that damage upon the reigning champions themselves when they travel to the Etihad Stadium at the end of March. Liverpool’s fate is out of Arsenal’s hands, but if Arteta’s side can win all of their remaining games then they will stand an excellent chance of being crowned champions.

Arsenal must approach things in a one-game-at-a-time fashion and make sure that they do all they can on their part to give themselves the best chance of glory possible. Manchester City and Liverpool have their advantages over Arsenal, but the Gunners have earned the right to be in this race and will do all they can to take it to the wire.
