Gabriel Jesus left Tim Howard purring as Arsenal hosted Wolves on Saturday with a ‘lovely’ piece of skill to feed Bukayo Saka early on in their Premier League meeting.
The Gunners took the lead within six minutes at Emirates Stadium as Saka recorded his fifth goal of the campaign. Arsenal put Wolves under the cosh from the off and got their rewards. Jose Sa was helpless to stop the 22-year-old hitting the bottom corner of the Old Gold’s net.
Wolves would have believed they had defended Saka well at first as he gained possession by the touchline. But the Hale End hero slipped a ball to Jesus between Hugo Bueno and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde. He then continued his run and regained the ball from Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Gabriel Jesus impressed Tim Howard in Arsenal vs Wolves
Jesus impressed Howard by how the 26-year-old held off Toti Gomes before flicking a pass to Tomiyasu. The full-back would only have to tap the ball to lay it off for Saka, who got a bit of luck to skip past Craig Dawson. He then had the easy job of stroking the ball into the goal.
“Highlight Jesus,” Howard told the USA Network (2/12, 16:00). “He knows in this position he has to post up and be really strong in the corner of the box. It’s not an easy task. Watch this flick. [A] lovely little roll of the ball, manipulates it. Then it comes back to Saka, good finish.”

His attempt as Arsenal hosted Wolves was Saka’s fifth goal in the Premier League on his 13th appearance this season. It was also his eighth across all competitions through 20 games this term. He had further offered 11 assists through the 32-cap England winger’s first 19 outings.
Gabriel Jesus gives Mikel Arteta’s attack more than just goals
Jesus’ great work to hold off Gomes for Saka’s goal would have more than merited the assist Tomiyasu recorded. The Brazilian had only registered two assists through his first 13 fixtures this term before facing Wolves. Jesus made one of his assists against Lens on Wednesday.
The Champions League tie at Emirates Stadium also returned one of Jesus’ five goals across 13 appearances before facing Wolves. After which, the Brazilian admitted that he is working on influencing the game inside the area. But Jesus knows he provides more than only goals.
