Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has provided an insight into what Mikel Arteta expects from his players in training on a daily basis.

Emile Smith Rowe is now fully fit once again, and is working hard to fight his way back up the Arsenal pecking order. He has recently sent a clear message to Mikel Arteta, saying that he is ready for more game time.

The Hale end academy graduate has been very much on the fringes of the Arsenal squad this season, just as he was last time out. Multiple fitness issues have played a big part in stalling the 23-year-old’s career at the Emirates Stadium.

So far this season, he has featured just six times in the Premier League, with only one of those outings coming as a member of the starting XI.

Smith Rowe’s somewhat outcast status at Arsenal has led to plenty of speculation about his future. Former Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that there is a strong possibility that the player will be moved on in the current January transfer window.

However, plenty of Arsenal fans will still be desperate to see Smith Rowe succeed at the club and establish himself as a crucial first team figure once again. Having been with the club since he was 10-years-old, Smith Rowe will almost certainly be reluctant to give up on his Arsenal dream, too.

In order to stand any chance of getting the regular game time he desperately needs at this stage in his career, though, Smith Rowe will have to consistently impress Arteta in training.

Emile Smith Rowe explains what Mikel Arteta expects from Arsenal players in training

The Spanish coach is a demanding figure at London Colney, and expects his players to produce the highest standards that they are capable of in each and every session.

Smith Rowe has now opened up about what life is like at Arsenal on a day-to-day basis under Arteta. As quoted by the club’s official website, the three-cap England international said, “training is really intense actually. I think it’s got to be like that to keep pushing every day and to keep improving, and the manager demands that.”

“It’s nice to be high up in the league, but in training you are not thinking about that – you just want to get better every day and keep improving. I love that side of it. Everybody has to prove that they can play here, so it means every session you have to be at your best. It’s a great environment to be in.”

Not only does Smith Rowe need to impress Arteta in training, but he also has to outshine the likes of Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard, who are currently ahead of him in the pecking order. If he can do that, though, then he will be afforded more opportunities to play.

For the sake of his future prospects at the club, it is also vital that Smith Rowe is now able to stay fit for an extended period. It is important that he proves he can be relied upon to be available when needed.
