Arsenal star thinks he does one thing better than Martinelli, Trossard and Gabriel Jesus

One Arsenal star claims that there is an element of his game that sets him apart from Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli.

Eddie Nketiah believes he is the best player at doing one certain thing at Arsenal, and has been backed up by Reiss Nelson in that assertion.

Nketiah has gradually slipped down the pecking order at Arsenal this season. In the first half of the campaign, whilst Gabriel Jesus was struggling with his fitness, the Hale End academy graduate started plenty of matches.

He had some impressive moments too, most notably netting his maiden Premier League hat-trick against Sheffield United. That was in late October. He hasn’t scored in his 14 Premier League outings since then.

Back in October, Nketiah was rewarded for his impressive form with his first ever senior England cap. However, the 24-year-old has featured far less prominently in Mikel Arteta’s plans in recent months.

Whilst Jesus has been in and out of the starting XI due to injury, both Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard have impressed when asked to the lead the line in the Brazilian’s stead.

Why Eddie Nketiah remains a forgotten man at Arsenal

Nketiah is likely to leave Arsenal in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The striker still has great confidence in his own ability, though. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, he named himself as the best finisher at the club, ahead of Gabriel Martinelli, Jesus, and Trossard.

Nelson, who was also part of the interview, agreed with Nketiah’s assessment.

The forward certainly can be clinical in front of goal. It is his all-round game that isn’t up to the standard required by Arteta of his regular starters and most trusted players. Whilst Jesus has made a vow to score more goals, he has other qualities that make him so important to the team. With his flair and directness, he is a constant menace to opposition defences, and he presses relentlessly when the north London club lose possession.

Equally, Trossard’s versatility is a huge asset. Whilst he can spearhead the attack, the Belgian can also play in the left-eight midfield role, or out wide on the flanks. Nketiah does not offer such flexibility. Equally, the England man can’t match Martinelli’s pace.

It is hard to see Nketiah salvaging his long-term Arsenal career at this stage, but with the Gunners now chasing down glory in both the Champions League and the Premier League, his superior finishing ability could prove vital during the run-in.
