Bruno Fernandes is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in world football.

The Portugal international became a hero at Sporting CP before earning a huge move to Premier League giants Manchester United, where he instantly established himself as the club’s most important player.

Even during United’s worst periods, Fernandes has consistently been praised for carrying the team almost single-handedly. However, despite all the hype surrounding him, there is one uncomfortable truth Fernandes cannot escape.

Arsenal star Viktor Gyokeres has now embarrassed him for the third time.

Viktor Gyokeres has achieved something Bruno Fernandes never managed

Bruno Fernandes enjoyed an excellent spell at Sporting CP and was adored by supporters in Portugal.

However, despite his individual brilliance, he never managed to win the Portuguese league title during his time there.

Things have not improved much for him in England either.

Since joining Manchester United, Fernandes has still not won the Premier League despite constantly being labelled one of the world’s elite players.

Arsenal striker Gyokeres, meanwhile, has quietly built a winning career wherever he has gone.

The Swedish striker spent two years at Sporting CP and helped the club win the Portuguese title in back-to-back seasons. He was the top scorer on both occasions.

Then, he moved to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and has now immediately won the Premier League while once again being the club’s highest scorer.

That means Gyokeres now has three league titles in as many seasons, which is an extraordinary achievement considering how heavily criticised he has been at times throughout his career.

Fernandes, on the other hand, continues receiving enormous praise despite having nowhere near the same level of team success.

For the third time now, Gyokeres has ended up making Fernandes look second best where it matters most – winning league titles.

Which signing played the biggest part in Arsenal winning the league?

Viktor Gyokeres deserves far more respect than he gets

One of the strangest things about Gyokeres is how often people still doubt him despite everything he keeps achieving.

The Arsenal striker has scored 21 goals in all competitions this season, is physically dominant and possesses a relentless work rate.

More importantly, he wins league titles, which is something Fernandes can only dream of.

Football ultimately is not just about statistics or highlight reels – the very best players are usually the ones who help deliver titles consistently.

Gyokeres has now done exactly that in consecutive seasons while many bigger names continue falling short.
