As Arsenal continue to build out the squad for the future, value for money will be one thing that is constantly brought up.

Stan Kroenke and the Arsenal ownership are constantly looking for ways in which the club can be run more efficiently from top to bottom.

One area that will always be cited as an expensive area of the business is the transfer fees that clubs pay to one another.

Arsenal, like many others, are looking to save millions in the market by finding untapped potential or undervalued assets.

As the Arsenal squad changes over time, so does the estimated value of the players who take to the pitch.

After a breakout campaign, one star who has thrived under Mikel Arteta has seen his value soar in the past year.

Ethan Nwaneri’s value has skyrocketed by £40million this season

It may have been an ultimately disappointing season for Arsenal in the end, but there were plenty of things to be positive about.

A deep run into the Champions League was one of them, with the side finally believing they could win the top prizes again.

There was also the introduction of Arsenal academy stars into the team, as Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri became regulars in the senior side.

For the latter, it was an impressive rise to replace the injured Bukayo Saka on the right, where he managed to bag plenty of goals and assists.

That push from the academy to the first team has seen Nwaneri’s value skyrocket in the market, as shown on Transfermarkt.

The 18-year-old has gone from being worth €8 million (£6.8 million) to being valued at €55 million (£46.8 million), which is an increase of £40 million.

It shows how Nwaneri’s potential has been transformed into some quality on the pitch, while there is still plenty of growth to come from the youngster.

His pathway is impressive, but simply part of a wider plan from the Kroenkes at Arsenal.

The impact of the Arsenal academy on Stan Kroenke

Stan Kroenke wants to make Arsenal self-sufficient when it comes to their finances, with a model that can mostly finance itself.

There are a few things that need to go into a model like that, starting with buying the right players at the right prices before selling them for a profit and reinvesting it wisely.

The other element to consider is the impact of the Arsenal academy, which can help out in a number of ways.

Firstly is the impact on the finances, as some sales within the academy can help raise funds by helping to progress these stars.

Then there is the impact on the first team, as some stars could come in for just the cost of developing them, going on to create top footballers for a fraction of the cost.

Bukayo Saka is a prime example of this, becoming a key player within the side for next to nothing overall.

Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly are those who have followed, while Max Dowman could be the next.

The Arsenal academy is the key to progression for Arsenal as they look to make the most of its value to the team.
