Arsenal teenager Marli Salmon could be involved in Mikel Arteta’s matchday squad against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners entertain the Eagles at the Emirates, looking to continue their impressive run of form and extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Despite Arteta having a deep squad at his disposal, a series of injuries could open an opportunity for an academy player or two to be involved.

Gabriel Magalhaes is a doubt for the encounter with the South Londoners, meaning an additional centre-back may be needed on the bench.

Salmon is among the contenders, and the Gunners might just have inadvertently dropped a hint about his potential inclusion.

Marli Salmon not involved in Arsenal Under-21s game on Saturday

Arsenal’s Under-21s take on Chelsea on Saturday afternoon in Premier League 2.

Salmon, who has been a fixture in Max Porter’s side this season, wasn’t included in the squad to face the Blues.

Max Dowman was also left out of the team, potentially hinting at his and the 16-year-old centre-back’s inclusion in the senior side on Sunday.

While Dowman has been heavily involved in the first team this season, Salmon hasn’t featured in a matchday squad for the men’s side since the pre-season tour of Asia.
