Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners will soon meet with Jorginho’s agent over signing a new contract, with the midfielder’s current deal due to expire in 2025.

Indeed, experience and leadership is needed at Arsenal if they’re to challenge for everything once again next season, and keeping Jorginho around will do just that for the Gunners.

Romano said about Arsenal’s plan to hand Jorginho a new contract: “Arsenal will speak to Jorginho’s agent in the next weeks, there will be conversations about his contract.

“Jorginho’s agent confirms that Arsenal will have their priority, he’d be happy to stay at the club but of course we have to see how these conversations will go.”

Arsenal have been on top of handing their best players new contracts in recent years, and Jorginho penning a new deal would keep the trend ongoing.

The midfielder has been brilliant for Arsenal despite not being a regular in the starting XI, with Mikel Arteta mastering the art of playing Jorginho when the situation calls for it.

And the Arsenal manager will be pleased to keep the midfielder around for a little bit longer, with Jorginho proving to be a good fit for the Gunners since leaving Chelsea.
