Arsenal told to look to one Premier League rival’s recent change for title race inspiration

Arsenal’s Premier League title ambitions suffered another setback on Saturday as they were held to a goalless draw by Everton. 

Arsenal were the dominant force at the Emirates Stadium, but the Toffees were committed to their defensive task and earned their reward of a point. 

Mikel Arteta has insisted that Arsenal deserved to win, but the truth is that the hosts were toothless in the final third, and not for the first time this season 

This result, and the dropped points, will be all the more galling for Arsenal fans to accept as Liverpool were held to a draw this weekend too, meaning that the North London club missed an opportunity to close the gap on the current Premier League leaders.

Arsenal told they must copy Chelsea to get Premier League title bid back on track

Having finished as runners up in each of the last two campaigns, Arsenal were tipped to become champions this season. 

However, the Gunners now sit third in the Premier League table, having been leapfrogged by a resurgent Chelsea side.

Tony Cascarino has now urged Arsenal to look to the Blues, who have found some impressive form in recent weeks, for inspiration.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “You never know if they could go on a run of four, five, six, however many games they need to win on the bounce. Arsenal are capable of doing that.

“Chelsea have come from, by the way, a long way behind to be second. Chelsea were way behind a few weeks back. They’ve gone on a run, I’m pretty sure Arsenal could do a similar thing.”

Arsenal are not out of the Premier League title race yet, but with every dropped point their remaining margin for error becomes even narrower.

Arsenal have been told that they need to put a run together before this season, but now the Gunners are approaching the last chance saloon.

If Arteta’s side are to make a serious push for the crown, though, Arteta needs to make changes that will unlock his side’s attacking potential.

That may mean giving summer arrival Raheem Sterling a real opportunity to find some form, or could involve bringing Ethan Nwaneri into the regular starting XI in place of the underwhelming Mikel Merino.
