Arsenal may already be regretting the day they lost Omari Hutchinson to Chelsea after failing to sign him on a new contract.

That’s off the back of Hutchinson playing a star role in Ipswich Town’s victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in EFL Cup last night.

The 19-year-old is on loan at Kieran McKenna’s side from Chelsea and scored the first goal of a remarkable comeback.

Moreover, Hutchinson is playing a very useful role for an Ipswich side that sit joint top of the Championship.

Had the winger still been on Arsenal’s books, he may even be set to start against Brentford tonight.

Arsenal are of course already enduring something of an injury crisis and do now have three key wingers with issues.

All of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka are set to miss the game.

And that should pave the way for Reiss Nelson and Emile Smith Rowe to take starting spots.

However, if a former gem of Arsenal’s academy was still at the club, Hutchinson may well have a shout to start.

Of course, Arsenal did try and secure Hutchinson to a new deal.

However, the Jamaica international decided that he preferred to leave the club in search of more first team opportunities at Chelsea.

A report in The Athletic reiterated that the switch wasn’t financially motivated.

And it does have to be said that Hutchinson may not have therefore made the best decision either.

Yes, he is now getting opportunities at Ipswich, but that’s a loan move that could have also stemmed from The Gunners.

Perhaps both Hutchinson and Arsenal harbour some regrets over the move across London to Chelsea.

Nonetheless, the ‘sensational’ winger is now thriving in an exciting Ipswich side and will soon hope to force his way as a regular starter.
