Arsenal have a brilliant recent history with young players but along the way, there will always be some who fall by the wayside.

Not everyone can be a Bukayo Saka or a Max Dowman and sadly for those players, their careers will lie away from The Emirates.

Nevertheless, players like Mika Biereth and Brooke Norton-Cuffy are prime examples of players who have moved on from Arsenal and built a good career elsewhere.

Now, for Arsenal youngster Josh Nichols, it looks like the same path will need to be followed.

Josh Nichols to leave Arsenal

This current Arsenal squad is so strong that a lot of young players will be wondering if their time will ever come.

Exceptional talents like Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman will know their time will indeed come but for players like Josh Nichols, it doesn’t quite happen.

Nichols was on the bench for this season’s Champions League clash with Club Brugge and has played in the EFL Trophy.

However, according to popular Arsenal youth account ‘Next Generation Arsenal’, Nichols will indeed leave Arsenal this coming summer.

A loan move has never materialised and given he turns 20 in the summer, a move away seems the logical step for his career.

Josh Nichols might well go on and make a career for himself elsewhere but given his position at right-back, he was always going to find it hard.

Jurrien Timber, Ben White, and even players like Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly can all play there if needed and ultimately, Nichols won’t get a look in.

Arsenal fans: How would you sum up Oleksandr Zinchenko’s time with the club?

“To the Gunners. I will never forget the way you welcomed me. Still remember the goosebumps I got at the first game after hearing your “Always beliiiiiieeeve”. I couldn’t even dream about it.

“From the deepest place in my heart I would like to say a massive thank you for everything that you have done for me and my family.

“To the coaching staff, thank you for the opportunity to be a small part of this amazing club. To the players, thank you for the priceless experience, fantastic memories and becoming friends for life.

“To all the staff, thank you for your help and for looking after me and my family. And of course to the fans, for love, support and criticism which we as a players need to accept and work even harder.

“I just want to wish you all the best and hope you achieve everything what ever you wish. Once a Gunner always a Gunner. Thank you”

The modern right-back, too, is required to be more advanced and almost play as a midfielder at times.

Quite whether Nichols has that in his locker, only he and his coaching staff know.

Still, he is young enough to succeed and like many others who leave the club, Nichols will be hopeful of finding a move elsewhere and blossoming.
