A look at Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures as the Premier League title race starts to heat up, alongside Liverpool and Manchester City.
Arsenal continued to pick up momentum towards a Premier League title charge when they faced West Ham over the weekend. The Gunners, fresh off of their victory against Liverpool, have closed the gap on those at the top of the table.
The Hammers offered a potentially tough test, but their resolve was broken with William Saliba opening to scoring. Just moments later, a penalty was given as Bukayo Saka was taken out by Alphonse Areola, with the England international putting the resulting spot kick beyond the goalkeeper.
The half-time team talk was made even easier for Mikel Arteta as Gabriel Magalhaes and Leandro Trossard added a third and fourth goal before the break. Arsenal continued their dominance afterwards too.
Saka scored a second to complete his brace for the match, while Declan Rice added a goal to his two assists against his former club. The victory has not only kept Arsenal at the same pace as those also chasing the title, but it has handed them a useful boost on the goal difference front too.
With the title race now heating up, the Gunners have some big fixtures ahead. So with that said, here’s a look at the next five fixtures compared to their rivals Liverpool and Man City.
Arsenal fixtures
Burnley (A) – February 17
Next up for Arsenal is a trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, where former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany is currently head coach. The Belgian manager will be looking to do his old team a favour in the title race, while helping the Clarets in their relegation struggles.
Newcastle (H) – February 24
A tough home tie against Newcastle follows, with the Magpies previously causing the Gunners plenty of problems. Eddie Howe is having his own problems to solve though, with his team sitting in seventh and with lofty ambitions.
Sheffield United (A) – March 4
There’s another trip to a relegation contender as Sheffield United prepare to host Arsenal in early March. The Blades need results quickly to beat the drop, with Chris Wilder returning to try and turn things around for them.
Brentford (H) – March 9
Brentford will be looking to keep themselves away from the relegation conversation and have seen a slight upturn in form since the return of Ivan Toney. Arsenal will be hopeful that the transfer target doesn’t continue to find the back of the net against them.
Chelsea (H) – March 16
Wrapping up the next five fixtures, Arsenal host London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. The Blues have struggled under Mauricio Pochettino, sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table, but they will be keen on causing an upset.
