Arsene Wenger makes Man City vs Arsenal prediction

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has discussed the team’s chances in the title race ahead of their major clash with Manchester City. The Gunners have a chance to move clear of their rivals at the top of the table with a win, taking the advantage in the battle for first.

Wenger spoke ahead of the game to Freddie Ljungberg for Viaplay Sports, via Ljungberg’s X account. He said: “I think so yes [Arsenal can go the distance in the title race]. The next game will be a little decider because we go to Man City, but why not?

“City are always a difficult team to play, but not maybe as dominant as they were last year at the moment, but they can always come back. They know how to do it, City. They have the experience. Arsenal has the capacity, but they have to show they can do it now.

“I hope, and I’m convinced that we have learned from last year, because last year the tension got to them, and they dropped in the final sprint. This year because maybe they have two competitions to go for, they might be a bit more relaxed.”

Rodri title warning

Manchester City star Rodri has sent a clear warning to Arsenal ahead of the head-to-head between the title challengers. The Gunners make the trip to the Etihad Stadium in search of three points, though the Spanish midfielder is yet to taste defeat in a whole year of action, when he is playing.

“It’s a very, very important match,” Rodri said, via the Independent. “I’m not saying it’s going to be decisive but it will be very important for the mental fight. If we are able to beat them, it will be very important for our confidence – and we will show them that we are here again.

“It’s not just this game that’s like a final, it’s all of them from now until the end of the season. We’re still in every competition but any game that you lose can practically leave you out of the running. Really, that’s the level that this league demands from you, to reach between 90 and 100 points to be able to win the league.

“So, we have to win practically every game and that starts against Arsenal, who are currently the league leaders.”

Paul Merson gives key Arsenal title message

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has claimed that the Gunners will get a result against Manchester City, if the current champions are missing key players. It comes as a number of doubts hover over Pep Guardiola with his team selection.

Writing for SportsKeeda, Merson said: “If Kyle Walker and John Stones don’t play, I don’t see Arsenal not getting a result here. If all the players are fit for City, they will win this, because they just turn up and win big football matches.

“This result will hinge on the fitness of the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Walker and Stones. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves – the Gunners are still well behind City in terms of overall quality, because it is scary how good Pep Guardiola’s side can be when they are on song.

“They’ve won 19 and drawn three since last tasting defeat against Aston Villa in December. That’s what Arsenal are up against.”
