Arsenal have seen their Premier League title bid derailed by a number of reasons this season.

Arsenal’s inability to see teams off in tight games has led to too many draws and therefore trailing Liverpool by 11 points in the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta wanted a striker in the January transfer window but moves for the likes of Ollie Watkins never materialised.

Arsenal’s injury crisis this season has also been a huge factor to the gap between the Gunners and Arne Slot’s side but injuries have often struck down Arsenal in the past.

Arsene Wenger revealed the ‘worst injury’ during his time at Arsenal

Arsene Wenger was involved with some serious injuries during his time at the club, there were horrific leg breaks to Aaron Ramsey and Eduardo Da Silva.

However, Wenger once revealed that the worst injury he witness during his time in North London was suffered by Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla.

As per Give me Sport, Wenger stated: “It is the worst injury [I have known], It started with a pain in the achilles and it has gone from worse to worse.

“I must say I know how much Santi loves to play football and loves to be out there every day and I feel very sorry for what happened to him, because it is unbelievable.”

Cazorla himself admitted ‘crying in pain’ due to the injury and unfortunately never made another appearance for the last after finally giving into the injury during a Champions League tie in 2016.

Santi Cazorla’s Arsenal career

Cazorla was signed in the summer of 2012 from Spanish outfit Malaga and quickly became a fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium with his silky passing and notably his ability to use both feet.

The Spaniard thrived in a midfield alongside the likes of Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil during his time at the Gunners before his fledgling career was cruelly cut short.

Perhaps his greatest Arsenal moment was scoring a wonderful free kick during the 2014 FA Cup final against Hull City to get Wenger’s side back in the game after going 2-0 down early on.

Ramsey eventually scored the winner in extra time to end a nine year trophy drought for the club but it was Cazorla who masterminded the recovery.
