Arsene Wenger is Arsenal’s greatest manager of all time.

The legendary Frenchman spent over two decades at the helm of the Gunners and he changed the face of the club. He is the reason why Arsenal are as big as they are today.

Over the course of his managerial career in North London, Wenger signed over 100 players and improved almost every single one of them.

Now, he has revealed his best signing.

Wenger signed some truly incredible players during his time at Arsenal.

Thierry Henry, who is the greatest player to play for the Gunners, is the one that springs to everyone’s minds, while the likes of Marc Overmars, Sol Campbell, Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie were all signed by him as well.

Most Arsenal fans will tell you that Henry is Wenger’s best-ever signing, but the Frenchman doesn’t agree with that opinion.

Wenger believes the best transfer business he made at Arsenal was actually his decision to bring in Patrick Vieira.

The Gunners paid £3.5 million for the Frenchman back in 1996 (Arsenal.com), and Wenger has claimed that the legendary midfielder was the one who gave him the credibility that he needed in England.

In a video on Mo Farah’s YouTube channel, Wenger was asked to name the ‘best piece of business’ he did during his time at Arsenal.

He replied: “It depends. If you look at it financially, you could say many, many, many. But, maybe the credibility I got was for the first player I brought in, which was Patrick Vieira.

“People questioned (at the time): ‘Why do they employ Wenger?’

“After, of course, you have (Emmanuel) Petit, Henry, Overmars… (Dennis) Bergkamp was already there, (Nicolas) Anelka, you have so many players – Kolo (Toure), Lauren.

“But, I think the first players you bring in, you’re judged on.”

Patrick Vieira’s record at Arsenal is truly magnificent

Vieira is one of the best players to ever play in the Premier League.

The Frenchman had absolutely everything that you would want in a midfielder, and he was a tremendous leader too. He was among the biggest reasons why Arsenal were so successful back then.

Vieira spent nine years as an Arsenal player and helped the club win three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three Community Shields.

10 trophies in nine years is a fantastic record. That is why he is adored by Arsenal fans even to this day despite the fact that he finished his career at Manchester City.
