Mikel Arteta has now decided to make a change to Arsenal’s established pre-season routine ahead of next season.
Arsenal will not be able visit one of their preferred training centres this summer.
In each of the last two summers, the Gunners have travelled to Germany to spend time working at the Adidas training centre and face Nurnberg in a friendly, before embarking on a US tour. This time around, however, Mikel Arteta’s men will not be travelling to Germany.
Mikel Arteta accepts change to Arsenal pre-season plan
As reported by Football.London, due to this summer’s EUROs tournament being hosted in Germany, it is not possible for Arsenal to make their annual pre-season trip there. Instead, Arteta’s side will travel straight from North London to the United States in late July.
However, Arsenal plan to resume pre-season activities at the Adidas training centre next summer, when there will be no international tournament hindering their plans.

Once they make it to the States, Arsenal will play friendlies against Manchester United and Liverpool. These fixtures will provide Arteta with an opportunity to experiment tactically, give his new signings a chance to familiarise themselves with their teammates, and his players will be able to build up their fitness. Of course, this sojourn also represents a commercial opportunity for the club, as the Gunners are well supported on the other side of the pond.
In the meantime, Arteta will keep a close eye on the Arsenal players due to feature in International tournaments this summer. Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Aaron Ramsdale are all expected to travel to Germany with the Three Lions. Saka recently turned up for England duty with Arsenal merchandise in tow.
Arteta will be hoping, above all, that none of his players pick up any injuries in the course of executing their international commitments.
Arsenal cannot afford to let standards slip in pre-season
Those players taking part in international tournaments will be afforded a break later in the summer, meaning they will be late in returning to Arsenal to prepare for the new domestic campaign.
The importance of pre-season can scarcely be overstated. If Arteta’s side aren’t well drilled and back to a good level of fitness then they will surely struggle to make a good start to the new Premier League season. Given the standard that has been set in recent title races, the Gunners can’t afford to be slow out of the blocks.
