Arsenal have been linked with several top-class players over the last few weeks.

The Gunners know they can’t just stand still after winning the Premier League title. They need to become even stronger – not just internally but through new signings as well.

Mikel Arteta has a few names on his shortlist. One of the most exciting ones has to be Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers.

However, Paul Merson doesn’t seem to be as excited as others about this potential signing.

Paul Merson warns Arsenal about signing Morgan Rogers

Most Arsenal fans are beyond excited about the prospect of Rogers joining the club.

The 23-year-old has been phenomenal for Aston Villa for well over a year now, and everyone feels he is destined to join a bigger club.

Arsenal want Rogers and he wants the Gunners as well, which makes the likelihood of this deal going through very high.

However, Merson has urged the Gunners to ‘be careful’ with the idea of signing Rogers because they already have Martin Odegaard at the club.

He told The Metro: “You have to be careful with that one. If Odegaard plays to his best ability, and Morgan Rogers does, there can’t be that much between them, surely.

“It’s only because, at the moment, Odegaard’s not playing as well, but Odegaard’s still young. He’s a top, top player.

“So for me, it’s one of those situations where I’d be careful.”

Arsenal could sell Martin Odegaard

There have been rumours for several months that Arsenal could make a big sale this summer.

Many fans have guessed that it could be Odegaard, and Sami Mokbel has revealed that the Gunners could indeed cash in on their skipper for the right price.

Odegaard is a phenomenal player and has given Arsenal a lot of joy over the years. He will forever be remembered as the captain who ended the 22-year Premier League trophy drought.

However, with just two years left on his contract, you can’t blame Arsenal if they decide to move him on and replace him with Rogers.

We’re not saying that the Aston Villa man is a better player all-round compared to Odegaard, but he is a much bigger goal threat, and Arsenal need goals from midfield.
