Indeed, when asked about the hardest moment of his career so far, Silva stated that the 2021 Champions League final defeat against Chelsea was a moment he still struggles to come to terms with.

Of course, that final was decided by a goal from Kai Havertz, who has since signed for, and become a star at, Arsenal.

Kai Havertz caused Bernardo Silva’s toughest moment

Silva was asked to name the toughest moment of his career.

The midfielder admitted that two moments in his career still haunt him.

Both moments are from Champions League defeats, while one was caused by Kai Havertz.

“Well the Champions League final against Chelsea was a tough one when we lost 1-0. But I would say even more than the Champions League final, the one against Madrid in the semi-final when they scored 2 goals in the last 2 or 3 minutes. That one was tough to take because we were much better than them in both games and for 5 minutes you throw everything away,” Silva said.

Kai Havertz part of an exclusive list

Kai Havertz is in rare company as one of only two players to have ever scored in a Champions League final to play for Arsenal.

Of course, Havertz scored in 2021 to win the trophy for Chelsea, while Sol Campbell netted in 2006 in a losing effort for Arsenal.
