Chelsea boss Frank Lampard faced the media ahead of his side’s clash against Arsenal at the Emirates this weekend.
The Blues, apart from their losses against Everton and Wolves, have been in good form this season. They are viewed by many as contenders for the Premier League title and you can’t really argue with that considering the quality in their squad.
Arsenal, on the other hand, are on the opposite end of the spectrum. We are currently 15th in the table and we will go into the derby on Saturday as massive underdogs.
Mikel Arteta’s side are seriously lacking creativity. Lack of chances created mean lack of goals and our tally of 12 in 14 games shows just how bad things have been for our attackers this season.
Not creating chances against a team like Chelsea will only end one way – defeat. Arteta needs to find a solution for his problems in attacking midfield, but thankfully for him, Lampard will be without one of his key creators too.
Lampard: Ziyech will not play against Arsenal
The Chelsea boss told Football London: “He (Hakim Ziyech) won’t be fit for Arsenal. It’s a muscle injury so we need to wait for it to recover. Not a long-term concern and we hope to have him back in a week or so. That’s football when players are playing every two or three days.”
Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax for £36 million in the summer. (Metro) The Moroccan was one of the best players in the Eredivisie over the last few years, and his performances for the Blues have been excellent as well.
The 27-year-old has only started five games under Lampard in the league but he has already been involved with four goals. He has created four big chances for the Blues as well – only Mason Mount has created more.
Chelsea still have plenty of players capable of hurting our defenders. However, Ziyech’s absence is good news and that will hopefully give us a boost as we go into the game this weekend to end our terrible winless run in the Premier League.
