Arsenal are moving closer to reaching an agreement with Bukayo Saka over a new long-term contract.

Andrea Berta has moved quickly and decisively to secure key players to lengthy new deals since he arrived in April.

Gabriel Magalhaes was the first to commit his future to Arsenal under the Italian sporting director, while William Saliba, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri have since followed suit.

According to BBC Sport, Saka is now close to signing a new deal which will see him become one of the Gunners’ highest earners.

There is a ‘growing expectation’ that an agreement will be struck very soon, with the winger expected to be elevated into the bracket of players earning in excess of £250,000 a week.

Jurrien Timber is also expected to receive a new contract

Berta isn’t prepared to stop at Saka.

The former Atletico Madrid chief wants to ensure core members of Mikel Arteta’s squad are contracted to the club for several years, and thus, Jurrien Timber is expected to be the next player to be offered a new deal.

The Gunners are keen on rewarding the Dutchman for his excellent form over the last 12 months, and are aware that his current salary isn’t reflective of his importance.

Timber is currently earning £120,000 a week in N5, with this deal running until 2028 (via Capology). This makes him one of the more modest earners at Arsenal, despite being a crucial cog in Arteta’s system.
