Arsenal are set to be without Bukayo Saka’s services for the foreseeable future, as Mikel Arteta confirmed.

Fear was realised when Saka was spotted on crutches at Selhurst Park, with the outcome even worse for the Gunners.

Arteta confirmed that Saka will be out for ‘many weeks’ when addressing the media ahead of Arsenal’s festive action.

The Gunners face Ipswich Town next and will be without their star attacker, in what is a monumental blow for the North Londoners.

Bukayo Saka tops the Premier League charts in key area

While Arteta has insisted that Saka can still help Arsenal, the winger’s impact will be missed considerably on the pitch.

So much of Arsenal’s threat comes from the right side, calling on other attackers to step up in the Englishman’s absence.

It’s set to be a difficult ride for the Gunners without their star forward, who isn’t just Arsenal’s best but one of the Premier League’s best too.

The figures only reinforce such claim, as Saka tops the charts in one crucial statistic in the Premier League this season.

No attacking midfielder or winger in the English top flight averages more goal-creating actions than the Arsenal academy graduate, who racks up a phenomenal average of 1.49 per 90.

FBref cites the importance of goal-creating actions, describing the statistic as the two offensive actions directly leading to a goal, which could be a pass, a take-on and winning fouls.

Saka is Arsenal and the Premier League’s shining light when it comes to consistently providing when it counts, contributing to 44% of the Gunners’ league goals this term.

It’s a huge blow for the Gunners in what has been an injured-laden campaign, with Saka’s pending absence set to be more detrimental than any before him.

The numbers only reinforce just how much of a crisis the 23-year-old’s injury is to Arsenal right now.

Given that the Gunners are already behind target with regard to where they want to be in the Premier League table, losing their star player is an incomprehensible loss.
