Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has been in sensational form in 2024, and has been instrumental in his side’s deadly attacking play.

After a short period of struggle during Arsenal’s dip in results at the end of 2023, Saka quickly returned back to his top form, and has now scored seven times in his last five Premier League appearances.

The 22-year-old is one of the best wingers in Europe, and is one of the best under-23 wingers in recent years, ranking above the likes of Leroy Sane and Ousmane Dembele for a combination of goals, progressive carries, touches in the opposition box and defensive metrics.

His recent form has helped Arsenal score 25 times in the last six league games, and he is now reaching heights that some world-class players failed to at the club in the last decade.

Bukayo Saka follows Robin van Persie Arsenal scoring record

Data expert Harvey Downes has now highlighted that Saka’s six Premier League goals in February is the most any Arsenal player has scored since Robin van Persie in October 2011.

“Bukayo Saka scored six Premier League goals in February 2024, the most by an Arsenal player in a single calendar month since Robin van Persie in October 2011 (7),” he posted on X.

The Dutchman was lethal in his final season at Arsenal before his controversial move to Manchester United, and October 2011 saw him score seven times in just four games.

Van Persie did not score in a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur to start the month, but scored back-to-back braces against Sunderland and Stoke, before netting an outstanding hattrick in a 5-3 victory away at Chelsea.

Bukayo Saka’s incredible February in the Premier League

Saka’s month of February saw him outscore any month the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexis Sanchez had at Arsenal, with goals in five consecutive games so far.

Like Van Persie, Saka played four games in his stunning month, but scored in all four, with an opener against Liverpool, back-to-back braces against West Ham and Burnley before a fine finish in last week’s victory over Newcastle.

He has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League last month, and has helped Arsenal lay out their title ambitions with some big victories and excellent performances in front of goal.
